Refund & Cancellation Policy

Effective date: 6 September 2026 · Last updated: 6 September 2026

Business draft for legal review. This policy is a business draft prepared for FinImali and should be reviewed by a qualified South African attorney before it is relied on publicly. It is not legal advice, and publishing it does not by itself guarantee compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or any other law.

1. About this policy

This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellation and refunds work for FinImali, the finance management application for South African small and medium businesses operated by Enhle-Miya (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).

It should be read together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where this policy deals with cancellation or refunds, it applies in addition to — and not instead of — those documents.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@finimali.co.za.

2. 14-day free trial

New accounts may start with a 14-day free trial. During the trial you have access to the service without being charged.

Although you authorise payment through our payment processor, PayFast, when starting a subscription, your first charge is deferred until the trial period ends. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged at all.

You can cancel during the trial at any time through the Billing page in the app. No fees apply for cancelling during the trial, and there is nothing to refund because nothing has been charged.

3. Monthly subscriptions and billing

After the free trial, paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via PayFast. By subscribing you authorise recurring monthly debits of the applicable subscription fee on each billing date until you cancel.

Subscription fees are charged in South African Rand (ZAR) at the prices displayed on our website and in the app at the time you subscribe. We never see or store your card or bank account details — payment information is handled directly by PayFast under its own security and privacy standards.

4. How to cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Billing page in the app — there is no need to email us, phone us or give a reason.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period. You keep full access to your paid features until that period ends, and no further renewal charges will be made after cancellation.

Because subscriptions are billed monthly in advance, cancelling stops future renewals; it does not normally generate a refund for the unused remainder of the current paid period (see section 5 for when refunds are considered).

5. Refunds — our approach

We want this policy to be fair. We do not offer routine, pro-rated refunds for voluntary cancellations partway through a paid monthly period — instead, you simply keep access until the period you have already paid for ends.

However, refunds are genuinely considered, and where appropriate granted, in situations such as:

• duplicate charges, where the same billing period was charged more than once;

• incorrect charges, where you were charged the wrong amount or for a plan you did not choose;

• payment processing errors, including charges made after a valid cancellation took effect;

• a material failure of the service on our side — for example, the service being substantially unavailable or unusable for an extended period and us being unable to remedy it;

• any other situation where applicable law requires a refund or similar remedy.

Each request is reviewed on its own merits, and we may ask for reasonable supporting information (such as the payment date or reference) to investigate. Approved refunds are processed back through the original payment method via PayFast, and we will confirm the outcome to you by email.

6. Your statutory consumer rights are preserved

Nothing in this policy limits, excludes or overrides any right you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (where it applies) or any other applicable South African law — including, where applicable, the right to cancel a fixed-term agreement on twenty business days’ notice under section 14 of that Act.

This policy is not a blanket “no refunds under any circumstances” rule and must not be read as one. Where this policy conflicts with a right that cannot lawfully be excluded or waived, your statutory rights prevail.

7. Failed payments

If a scheduled payment fails — for example due to insufficient funds or an expired card — we will typically retry the charge and notify you. Your account may be marked as past due while payment is outstanding.

If payment remains unsuccessful, access to paid features may be restricted until the outstanding amount is settled. We will not keep charging you indefinitely for failed periods: you can cancel at any time as described in section 4, and no new billing periods will start after cancellation.

8. How to request a refund

Email us at info@finimali.co.za with the subject line “Refund request”, and include the email address on your FinImali account, the date and amount of the charge, and a short description of what happened.

We aim to acknowledge refund requests within a reasonable time and to let you know the outcome of our review, with reasons, by email. If a refund is approved, processing times for the money to reflect depend on PayFast and your bank, and are outside our direct control.

If you are unhappy with the outcome of a refund request, you are welcome to escalate it to us as a complaint (see section 10), and you always retain any statutory remedies available to you.

9. Your account and data after cancellation

Cancelling your subscription does not immediately delete your account or your business data. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

After your paid access ends, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy: it may be retained for a limited period (including where we are required to keep records by law), after which it may be deleted. We recommend exporting any records you need before your access ends.

You can ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements, by contacting info@finimali.co.za as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Complaints and contact

If you have a complaint, question or concern about a charge, a cancellation or a refund, please contact us first at info@finimali.co.za so we can try to resolve it with you directly. We aim to acknowledge complaints within a reasonable time and to respond meaningfully.

This policy does not prevent you from approaching any regulator, ombud, tribunal or court that has jurisdiction, or from exercising any other right you have under South African law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

For material changes, we will give reasonable advance notice — for example by email or an in-app notice — before the updated policy takes effect. Changes will not reduce rights you already have in respect of payments made before the change.
